As an alternative to the shortwave receivers from Grundig and Nordmende
in Germany and Zenith in the USA, several cheaper "All wave receivers" made
from small Japanese manufacturers were sold in the seventies and eighties.
Many of these sets seem to have been sold by electronic discounters under
their own label or with fantasy designations.
Some of these sets offer reasonable reception qualities, many of them are
too pretentious: many features and a impressive front panel, but sometimes
expensive components have been omitted for price reasons (linear VFO, digital
frequency display, high quality IF filters) - what might might lead to poor
reception as a result.
